Ashtayam

Ashtayam (from Sanskrit Ashta meaning eight and Yama meaning three-hour period) refers to the 24-hour daily cycle of devotional service or continuous chanting in Hinduism, divided into eight 3-hour intervals. [1, 2]
It primarily takes two forms:
  • Deity Worship (Seva): In traditions like the Pushtimarg or Radhavallabh (common in Braj/Vrindavan), this involves eight specific periods of the day when priests perform services for the deities, such as waking (Mangala), bathing, offering food (Bhog), shringar (adorning), and putting to rest (Shayan). [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • Akhand Kirtan: In other Vaishnava traditions, it refers to a 24-hour continuous chanting of Lord Vishnu’s names (like the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra or Ramdhuni). [1]
You can explore detailed methodologies and daily devotional songs on the Bhajan Marg or the Vrindavan Ras Mahima platforms.

Four Indradyumna

  • The Four Deities: Legend says Indradyumna was tasked with installing the four-fold form of the Lord in the temple, consisting of Lord Jagannatha, Balabhadra, Subhadra, and the Sudarshana Chakra. [1]
  • The Four Legends/Associations:
    • Temple Construction: Indradyumna ordered the construction of the original Jagannath temple with the assistance of regional kings.
    • Queen Gundicha: His queen, Gundicha, requested he build a temple, leading to the tradition of the Rath Yatra.
    • Indradyumna Tank: A sacred tank near the Gundicha temple is believed to have been created by the thousands of cows he donated to Brahmins.
    • Asvamedha Yajna: He performed numerous horse sacrifices (Asvamedha yajnas) to please the Lord, which led to the manifestation of the Daru Brahma (divine wood). [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • The Four-Armed Vishnu: Indradyumna originally sought to worship the four-armed image of Lord Vishnu before it was hidden in the sand. [1]
Note: The results also refer to Indradyumna Swami, a contemporary Gaudiya Vaishnava preacher who writes about his own travels and life. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Nine Shaktis

https://harekrishnainfo.blogspot.com/search/label/Uddhava

Lord Krishna had taken birth and Vasudev had exchanged Krishna with Yogmaya (Durga) in the form of a baby girl.

Kamsa came furiously to kill the baby girl but the girl escaped from his hand and appeared in her form as Yogmaya Devi.

She declared loudly, “Kamsa! The Lord has appeared on the Earth to give pleasure to all the living entities and to kill you.

Along with him, eight Maha-Shakti-greater and more attractive than me-will also take birth on the earth. Their names are

  1. Radha,
  2. Chandravali,
  3. Lalita,
  4. Visakha,
  5. Padma,
  6. Saibya,
  7. Syamala and
  8. Bhadra.

Whoever marries them will be most fortunate: he will be Rajendra(Emperor), and will be so powerful that he will defeat even Mahadeva in battle.”
